Throughout the past year the Foundation has worked closely with the Youth Sport Trust in delivering two key initiatives in the South West London and Surrey area.

Multi-skill Festivals

Multi-skill Festivals are designed to enable young children to develop the fundamental movement skills of balance, coordination and agility which underlie healthy development and future sports participation. Festivals can also introduce young people to high quality competition and be used to initiate assessment of ability.

Working with 10 School Sport Partnerships over the 12 month period, 469 Primary Schools and 56,280 young people were involved in a total of 168 festivals. Included in each festival was the Paul Casey Challenge, a golf style activity run as a competition for all participating schools and won by the 162 children from Kew Riverside Primary School.

In the year ahead, we will work with a new set of partnerships and support them in delivering high quality festival opportunities for their primary aged children, and encourage them to increase the number of intra and inter school festivals that they run.

STARS Squad programme

The Paul Casey STARS Squad programme supports two schools in South West London with exceptionally talented young sports people to achieve their academic and sporting potential and in doing so help the school build a culture of "success builds success" through funding, training, support and guidance.

As Archbishop Lanfranc School and Harris Academy Merton build and embed best practice Gifted and Talented personal development and support within their curriculums, it is intended to expand the programme to additional schools.
